For larger schemes, we can obtain appropriately scaled ordnance survey maps with which a contoured landform model is created as illustrated in the sample animation. Crude block representations of buildings and objects can be inserted to provide results which, even at this conceptual stage, provide powerful images that provide a platform conveying scale and purpose providing a medium for further creative inspiration and ideas.
To develop and enhance the model a stage further, we then replace block representations, with 3D CAD Architectural & Building models , objects (such as trees, street furniture, people) and further local topographical survey data as required. This is an iterative process and once finalised, the model and resulting 4D CAD animation can be rendered to incorporate the required material and textures.
It should be noted that ordnance survey maps are not always an essential starting point. It is possible to use client existing 2D drawings and use these together with survey data to generate the required 3D model. |
